Privacy Policy

StreetReps ("StreetReps," "we," "us") is a free finance-recruiting study tool. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain English.
The short version
- You can use most of StreetReps without an account. If you don't sign in, your progress is stored only in your own browser.
- If you sign in, we store your email and your study progress so it follows you across devices.
- When you use the Combine, your spoken answer is transcribed and graded by AI. We use the audio only to grade you and don't keep the recording.
- We do not sell your data, run ads, or use third-party advertising trackers.
- Your chosen display name and XP are public on the leaderboard. Nothing else about you is.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or with an email link, we receive your email address (and, from Google, your basic profile such as name). Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Your progress. Streak, XP, lessons completed, practice stats, any sample compensation entries you add, and a display name you choose. For signed-in users this is stored in our database so it syncs across devices.
- Local storage. If you are not signed in, your progress is saved only in your browser's local storage on your device.
- Voice recordings (the Combine). When you record a spoken answer in the Combine, your browser sends the audio to our server so it can be transcribed and graded. We use the audio only to produce your transcript and grade, and we do not keep the raw recording. Your resulting Street Score and grade breakdown are saved to your account.
- Usage analytics. We use a privacy-friendly product-analytics tool (PostHog) to understand how the app is used — for example, which section you opened, or that a Combine run finished — so we can improve it. Analytics are routed through our own domain (a first-party proxy) and run without advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Events are tied to a random device identifier your browser generates and, if you are signed in, your account id and email; this data is never sold or used for advertising. We may also capture anonymized recordings of how the interface is used to find and fix problems, with any text you type masked.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and authentication providers automatically record standard technical data such as IP address and browser type to operate and secure the service.
We do not collect real salary data, financial account details, or sensitive personal information. The compensation figures in the app are illustrative sample data, and anything you type into "add your offer" is saved to your own account only.
Voice practice and AI grading
The Combine lets you answer interview questions out loud. When you do, your browser records your answer and sends the audio to our server, which uses a speech-to-text provider to transcribe it and an AI model to grade your content, structure, and delivery. We use the audio only to generate your transcript and score. We do not store the raw audio recording, and we do not use it to train models. The transcript is shown back to you, and your Street Score and grade breakdown are saved so they can appear on your profile and the leaderboard. Your microphone is only accessed after you start a Combine answer, and nothing is captured unless you choose to record.
How we use it
- To run the app and save your progress.
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To show the leaderboard (your display name and XP only).
- To keep the service working, secure, and free of abuse.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
What is public
The leaderboard shows each player's chosen display name and XP to anyone who visits, including people who are not signed in. It never shows your email or any identifier. If you don't want a name shown publicly, leave your display name blank (you'll appear as "Anonymous") or use a nickname.
Service providers
We rely on a few trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase: authentication and database (stores your account and progress).
- Netlify: website hosting and the serverless functions that grade the Combine.
- PostHog: product analytics that help us understand app usage and improve it. Routed through our own domain (first-party proxy); no advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Groq: speech-to-text — transcribes your spoken Combine answers.
- DeepSeek / Anthropic: the AI model that grades your Combine answers and powers the AI coach.
- Google: "Sign in with Google" (only if you choose it) and web fonts.
- jsDelivr: a content-delivery network that serves a software library the site uses.
- Google and DuckDuckGo: serve the small company and school logos (favicons) shown on our home page.
Loading fonts, the software library, and the home-page logos involves your browser contacting Google, jsDelivr, and DuckDuckGo, which necessarily receive your IP address as part of any web request. When you use the Combine, your spoken answer is sent to Groq and our AI grading provider to be transcribed and graded, as described above.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do use your browser's local storage to save progress, and our authentication provider stores a sign-in token in your browser so you stay logged in. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out and remove locally saved progress.
Keeping your data, and deleting it
We keep your account data while your account exists. You can:
- Sign out at any time from the account menu.
- Clear local progress by clearing your browser's site data.
- Delete your account and data by emailing us at the address below. We'll remove your account and associated progress.
Security
We use reputable providers and standard protections, and access to your stored data is restricted to your own account. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
Children
StreetReps is intended for university students and professionals preparing for finance recruiting. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices and rights
You can access and update your display name in the app, and request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use StreetReps after a change means you accept the updated policy.
